King of the 4th of July
(Rich Mullins)
If I were king of the fourth of July, I’d take my fireworks and fill up the sky.
And all us Americans ...we could all laugh and feel high
And if I were the wind, I would blow us away
To a place where no confusion could ever keep us awake.
We’d all have time to laugh, time to love
And time still left to pray.
Keep on rolling, rolling on down to the end.
And, if you find something’s there, come back and let me know.
Keep on rolling, rolling on down to the end
And, if there’s something that’s there, I’d surely love to go!
Well, I’ve never seen God, but they say He’s my friend.
And I read in a Book all about the Son that He sent.
It was love that led Him ‘round to the places that He went.
And my Father’s a King and He sits on the sky!
He’s much better at that sort of thing than you or I.
Sometimes it makes me want to laugh...
Sometimes it makes me want to break down and cry.
Keep on rolling, rolling on down to the end.
And, if you find something’s there, come back and let me know.
Keep on rolling, rolling on down to the end
And, if there’s really something there, I’d surely love to go!

What sleeps all the time, but it ain’t got no legs?
It speaks to you clearly, but you never know what it says.
It sleeps all the time, but when a flood comes,
It’s the first thing to get up and get out of bed..........
