Lord, with hearts too small to know compassion, we come to You. Please teach us how to love.
How can we part with a pride that has so blackened and dimmed our view?
Lord, it's hard to give it up!
O, but Lord it's so risky to climb and so easy to slide!
Truth or consequences.
If we dare look around we may find it's a bigger world when You are in it!
Lord, You gave us the sky, but we were so ungrateful.
Instead of its light we chose a darkness all our own.
If we close our eyes, then how will we be able
To see the brightness of the love You've faithfully shown?
Lord, with minds too weak to grasp the vision of that fair world for which we're fitly made.
Help us find the life You hid in wisdom and then revealed in the Son You freely gave
It's so hard to shut it all down, and so hard to open up! It's a risky business.
If we would but dare look around everything we see would gladly witness that
It's You who gave us the sky! But, we were so ungrateful.

All these empty deceptions we gained we now leave behind, 'cause at last we know that

And, by Your light extinguish the darkness that we made all on our own!
So, open our eyes and help us to be able to see the brightness of the love
You've faithfully shown!.
