Whitewater

Whitewater

(Rich Mullins)

Well the whitewater wanders through them hoosier hills
The water rolls right on
And the moon rises over a furrowed field
The sycamore stands in the sun

But, they can't take me where
I would rather be
Where my heart leads me to
They can't take me when
I would rather be
With you

Well the Greyhound bus may bus me over prairie miles
Endless distances keep running
Up above me the clouds
Seem to sail on by
And I can't keep myself from wondering

If They could take me where
I would rather be
Where my heart leads me to
They can take me when
I would rather be
With you

Well I spent most of my life
Running away from the things I've need
And I've spent most of my time
Being too proud to pray
But now at last
I'm down here on my knees

And the neon flashes light the alabaster ruins
Sending signals out to the blind
And the people here
Well, they're always a'movin'
Soon I'll leave them all behind

'Cause they can't take me where
I would rather be
Where my heart leads me to
They can take me when
I would rather be
With you
